Silly Girl
Leslie got a Play-do fun pack for her birthday. Here is the inaugural Play-do head. Silly girl...
I went to wake her up from her nap last week and she had a sock on her hand. Silly girl...
A few weekends ago Leslie woke up before Calla, so I got up and gave her a cup of milk and turned a show on for her, so we could sleep some more. The dogs heard all the commotion and wanted out and fed, so I did that, too. When I came back inside I found Leslie sitting on the couch watching her show, just holding her birthday balloon from school. Silly girl...

Leslie's Birthday
We have a tradition of hanging streamers on her door for her birthday. It's just a little something to let her know today is a special day for her. And, it's even more fun because at this age, she's still surprised by it every year!
We went to Rosas with Grandmommy to eat and then went home for cake a little family party. We saved her cake from the party and cut into it on her actual birthday.
We saved all our presents for her to open on her birthday.
One of the biggest hits of the night... purple fairy wings I found at the dollar store:) I love toddlers!

Leslie's Party
Leslie's birthday party was a ton of fun this year! We decided on an M&M theme because it was easy and Leslie loooooves her chocolate! It was supposed to be all outside, but it got super windy, so we decided at the last minute to keep the bulk of it inside. The kids still played outside, but that's about it. Here's the best pictures of the day...

I Different:
Leslie has been really into a PBS show called "Super Why!" lately. Her favorite episode of the week deals with Pig being upset because he is "different." All week long, at random moments in the day, Leslie will get a frown on her face and say, "I just different." So dealing with that has been pretty comical in and of itself, but then the other night she got in trouble for something and Barry told her to go to her room because she was going to get a spanking. The whole way she was covering her heine looking back at him and crying, "I different! I different!" Maybe if she was a little more typical she wouldn't be getting the spanking!
Lesson Learned:
We are still constantly getting on to Leslie for putting things in her mouth... her hands, toys, crayons, blankets... EVERYTHING! The other night was a sweet little victory for us in that she got half an Easter Egg caught in her mouth. It was hilarious! One of those times you wish you had the camera closer (or were a little meaner and make her wait while you find it) and take a picture to laugh at later. Barry was helping me give Calla a bath and then all of a sudden Leslie comes running around the corner, hands flapping, half crying, obviously scared because she has this egg stuck in her mouth. It was night and a purple egg, so it took him a while to even figure out what she was freaking out about. He really couldn't get it out the way it was turned, but she finally screamed big enough that he managed to pry it loose. Is it mean I think that's hilarious? So, she at least doesn't stick Easter eggs in her mouth anymore. We're still working on the rest...

Chunky Monkey's Health...
I forgot to mention in my last post that Calla's massive weight gain is due to her milk allergy.
One of the reasons it took me so long to figure out what was going on with her is that she didn't have the classic symptoms associated with a milk allergy. Most kids refuse to eat because they feel so bad. However, a small portion, including Calla, misinterpret their stomach pain for hunger, so she wanted to eat all the time. I knew it was more than most kids, but Leslie was a chunk too, I thought, and who am I to tell her when she is and isn't hungry? Hindsight is always 20/20- eh?
So- I took Calla back to the doctor today, and he confirmed that her left ear was very infected. At least it's not a soy allergy! The doctor laughed at how I can diagnose them so well after Leslie's abundant history. I said, "I knew something was wrong when she was only taking 3oz bottles. You don't get to be 13#11oz at 9 weeks with 3oz bottles!" He gave her a full 2 weeks of amoxicillin after I told him this is the same thing Leslie would do... she didn't get them a ton, but it would always take 2 or 3 rounds of antibiotics to kick them. He made a joke about scheduling her for tubes but recanted when I took him up on it. She has to have at least 6 in a year. We've had 3 in the month, so we're off to a strong start:( If we can just get over this one, I hope we can stay well until the fall at least. One day at a time...
